Roots is a cloud-based construction management solution designed for general contractors, government contractors and subcontractors of all sizes. It helps in estimating and work procurement, project management, accounting, progress analytics and business management.
Its built-in CRM and lead management systems allow contractors to manage their work procurement pipeline, create and send bids and share estimates with crew members. Project managers can have visibility on current projects and daily allocations.
Roots' budgeting feature allows contractors to forecast expenses and record financial transactions. It also integrates with various third-party accounting systems to record and report financial activities in industry-defined standards. Some of the pre-built reporting templates include 1099 tracking, AIA billing, labor reporting, insurance and sub-compliance reporting.
Roots is priced on an annual subscription fee based on business revenue along with a one-time setup fee.

The project management side of the software is awesome! The document control works fairly well for the most part. it is a bit annoying that making edits or deleting items is not something that I can do. Overall the software is awesome and easy to use.
Pros
I enjoy that the software is trying to incorporate every aspect needed to complete a construction project. The Cost Control tab is probably the best part of the software currently to me. It is easy to browse and navigate when you are looking for what sub has been paid for what work and what billings they have been paid/not paid for. The project health meters are also a pretty interesting concept that gives a high level overview of where the project stands. I enjoy being able to invite subcontractors to use the same space for our project management, however it makes it tedious when our subcontractor does not want to get to know the software or is confused on how to answer an RFI on it. Overall I enjoy the software but will be more invested in it when it improves over the next couple of years.
Cons
The part I dislike the most is that we do not have it set up for preconstruction services. This would be amazing and would be one of if not the strongest component of the Roots Software. Currently working in estimating there are so many different avenues and forms we use based on who is working with the project. Having templates and one place where everyone could collaborate would be amazing and save a lot of headaches for the teams. It would also help the transition between precon and project management. I would love to see at least a preliminary version be issued here for use in the near future. Sometimes it seems like Roots slows down my computer or certain days Roots is a real struggle to stay loaded or not crash on me. Although I do believe the Roots team is aware of some of these issues throughout the system. Overall I do enjoy the software but it could use some great quality of life improvements to enhance to flow and ingenuity of the system to a newbie (albeit I found it pretty easy).

Real-time cost control is a measurable benefit to our project teams that allows them to accurately forecast upcoming cost and allocate invoices in real time. This keeps our subcontractors happy as we always know who is owed and when. It also allows us to manage our accounts receivable and owner payment application process with limited rework and clear communication.
Cons
Some of the features of the software are still in development but I have always had success with the customer service folks in getting help quickly
